Reports related to a new show based on the popular film Tremors have been going viral on social media. The rumors started trending after a poster was shared by Yoda Bby Aby through Facebook on April 23, 2025.
Similar details were shared by another page titled Rumbledore a day ago on the same platform. It featured a different kind of poster but with the same information, which claimed that the show was arriving on Netflix in August this year with eight episodes.
According to the captions of both posts, the new show would be a reboot of Tremors and feature Kevin Bacon in the lead. Yoda Bby Aby also added some information related to the basic premise, as it reads:
“Return to Perfection, Nevada, where the ground shakes with chaos as giant, man-eating worms unleash havoc in the modern day. Expect wild, edge-of-your-seat action and the same crazy thrills that made the original films a cult classic!”
On the other hand, the post by Rumbledore stated that the show was not a remake of the original monster horror film and would be a follow-up, focusing on Val McKee alongside the other crew and cast members. In addition, the post mentioned that the main storyline would be set many years after the events of the first film.
However, the rumors of a new Tremors show are false since Yoda Bby Aby frequently shares satirical news, and the Tremors post was also the same. The majority of the show and film announcements posted on their page are projects that are yet to be officially confirmed by certain production companies and the actors themselves.
Future of the Tremors franchise: Revival attempts explained in detail
The original film came out more than 30 years ago and managed to leave an impression on critics and the audience. It was followed by six more films until 2020, where the last three instalments were directed by Don Michael Paul. A spin-off series also premiered on Syfy in 2003.
An attempt was made to revive the Tremors franchise around five years ago, where Kevin Bacon served as an executive producer. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Andrew Miller joined as a showrunner and writer, and the story was supposed to continue around 25 years after the first film, where Valentine McKee would return to save everyone despite dealing with certain issues.
The reboot was eventually canceled, and Bacon addressed the same through an Instagram post, which has been deleted now, the following year. He expressed gratitude to all those who were associated with the reboot and wrote:
“Although we made a fantastic pilot (IMHO) the network has decided not to move forward.”
Bacon was supposed to be a part of another revival with the involvement of Universal Cable Productions and Blumhouse Productions, as per The Hollywood Reporter. In an interview with IGN in 2015, Kevin expressed his interest in returning to the franchise in some manner, saying that he would like to revisit his character, Valentine.
As per an update shared by The Hollywood Reporter on April 21, 2025, the original team associated with the film, including Ron Underwood and writers Brent Maddock and S.S. Wilson, wrote in a blog post that they were planning a sequel. The post stated that the new sequel to Tremors would feature graboids in a new environment and continued:
“Whatever we decide to pitch to Hollywood, it will not be a remake the first movie with a new cast. Nor will it be a version of our original script for Tremors 5.”
While the first three films received a positive response, the reviews became mixed with the fourth installment. Although Brent Maddock and S.S. Wilson continued to be associated with the initial three entries, they did not return for the next four films.
