Mr. Lirar Pulikkalakath is Assistant Professor in the School of International Relations and Politics. He joined the faculty in January 2014. He was previously on the faculty of the K.A.H.M Unity Women’s College, Manjeri. He received his M.A in West Asian Studies from the University of Calicut and his M.Phil from Jawaharlal Nehru University, New Delhi. The topic of his M. Phil dissertation was “Status of Iraqi Refugees in Syria and Jordan.” He is currently pursuing his doctoral research at the Jawaharlal Nehru University on “Youth in Jordanian Society and Politics: A Study of Problems in Education and Employment, 1999-2012.” Mr. Lirar specialises in West Asian Studies, Migration, Diaspora and Refugee Studies. He has published several articles in journals and contributed to edited volumes on topics related to West Asian politics particularly on Jordan, the Arab Spring, Iraqi refugees, the Hizbollah in Lebanon as well as issues related to the Malayali migration. He is also a regular contributor to Malayalam News Magazines. Mr. Lirar has presented papers at several national and international seminars and conferences and has addressed several forums on current issues. He is the Co-ordinator of the Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC) of the School, member of the Board of Studies of the School, Associate Editor of the South Asian Journal of Diplomacy as well as the Indian Journal of Politics and International Relations. Mr. Lirar is also Co-ordinator of the C.H. Mohammed Koya Chair of the Mahatma Gandhi University.
